Description
I was in the Braithwaite area the day of the storm. After being rescued off the levee at 10-12 in the morning on the 29th, I was in a boat that passed the entire length of the Stolthaven facility and we saw liquids in the water - yellow and orange streaks all along the highway. Some people on the boat were taking pictures. I did not smell a lot of aromas but after spending the night on the levee I don't know what my olfactory senses were. But I am sure that there was a liquid released from that facility that it was outside of their containment that I heard they were claiming. the facility was sold to our community as a vegetable oil plant, but we came to find out that it was not veggie/peanut oil at all. I appreciate what y'all are doing. Also concerned about the Amax site (1/2 mile north of Belle Chasse ferry) - metals recovery site a further (nickel, etc.)- covered ponds with vents could have been flooded. I am an organic farmer and very concerned about contamination of the land.
